Hawaii QB Colt Brennan is the only college football player in America who possesses total control over a game. NFL pro scouts are taking a hard look at the Heisman Award hopeful.
The Hawaii QB set the NCAA single-season record for TD passes with 58 in 2006. Leading the run-and-shoot offense, he's likely to have similar numbers in 2007.
Aloha Valley had a short "talk story" chat session with the Hawaii Senior Quarterback Colt Brennan.
Interview from August 2007
Aloha Valley: Aloha Colt, mahalo for taking time to talk with us here at AlohaValley.com. Colt Brennan: No problem, I'm up for it.
Aloha Valley: For what reason(s) did you choose to attend UH & play football in the islands? Colt Brennan: I chose to play football for Hawai'i because Coach Jones gave me another Opportunity to play football again after I had some off field problems at Colorado.
Aloha Valley: Why did you decide to come back for your senior year? Colt Brennan: I felt like something was telling me to come back. I felt like Hawai'i needed me for one more season, and to come back and complete some unfinished business.
Aloha Valley: What's your thoughts; how do you feel about the upcoming 2007 season, your senior year at UH? Colt Brennan: I feel like this team is good enough to win a National Championship. We have a lot of talent on both sides of the field. I really do think we have a good shot this year.
Aloha Valley: Which game; who do you feel will be your toughest opponent in 2007? What will it take to come out with a win? Colt Brennan: Every team is going to be hard and every team has its ups and downs. If we can find a weakness and take advantage of that then we can do anything. Thats why this football team works hard every practice to go beat our opponents.
Aloha Valley: In 2006 you were the WAC Offensive Player of the Year, finalist in several collegiate awards, broke/tied 19 NCAA records as well as 26 UH team records.
How do you put it all in perspective and keep your focus? Colt Brennan: I just work as hard as I can to accomplish those kind of records. Records really don't mean anything. I mean they're good to have, but I don't take all the credit for those. My team helped me get those records.
Aloha Valley: Looking to the 2007 season, what about the Heisman running and the fact that you will be "under the microscope" with NFL scouts; Any thoughts? Colt Brennan: All I can to is keep my focus and do my best and hopefully these dreams become something.
Aloha Valley: You definitely got the attention of the "big kahuna's" at Manoa; it looks as though things are slowly changing for the better; improving as far as the facilities & accomodations goes. Can you tell us your intent and comment on the matter? Colt Brennan: No, I would rather not comment on the question.
#15 Colt Brennan, Hawaii QB
Aloha Valley: Here in Las Vegas, we're looking forward to the September 15 game between UH & UNLV. Lot's of energy & excitement, Sam Boyd Stadium will see a lot of Warrior Green! What do you have to say to all the UH Warrior fans & supporters here in Las Vegas? Colt Brennan: Yeah, thanks for all your support and hopefully we can come out and do our best!
Aloha Valley: When you leave the University of Hawaii how do you want people to remember you? Colt Brennan: I want people to remember me as a person who was given a second chance and a person that never quit or let his teammates down.
Aloha Valley: Away from football, who is Colt Brennan? What do you like to do in your spare time? Colt Brennan: Colt Brennan is just another human being in the crowd. But away from football I like to spend time with my family and my friends.
Aloha Valley: Any special people you would like to recognize; acknowledge; thank? Colt Brennan: I want to thank my family, friends, fans, teammates, God, and supporters for everything! The biggest thanks go to Coach Jones for giving me another shot! Thanks Coach Jones!
Aloha Valley: Colt, mahalo for taking the time to chat with us! From everyone here at AlohaValley.com, we wish you and the Warriors a sucessful season. Good luck! Colt Brennan: Thanks, I'm looking forward to a great season.
Here's my prediction-Brennan will be picked up by the Falcons in the first round. Why? Well I'm sure everyone has heard of the trouble Vick has gotten into. Without Vick this year the Falcons will find themselves in the bottom tier of teams giving them a top 10 pick in 2008. They will be looking for a top notch QB and I believe with the June Jones connection, Colt will go about the 5th-8th pick. Again just my humble mana'o! Go Warriors!
Brennan will be good for the NFL ! written by BIGSURF , August 27, 2007
Colt Brennan is a PR dream cone true! Right now he's great for Hawaii. Next year he'll be great for the NFL. He knows how to communicate with the press, the public and most importantly, his team-mates. He always gives credit to those around him. It's easy to see why the offensive linemen work so hard to protect him. Pu'ukani is right, Atlanta would be a good fit for Brennan. Plus, they need someone like Colt who can help them overcome tha tarnished image left behind by Michael Vick.
Thanks for the great interview with Colt Brennan. We all want to see him lead Hawaii to a BCS game and a Heisman trophy and of course a great future NFL career. I've added your page to our collection of Colt Brennan pages at http://www.global-hawaii.com/sports/coltbrennan.
