In the Presence of Angels is a simple tale about a walk of faith taken by a New England native woman through a Hawaiian doorway. Kukuipuka is a place of worship. The name means doorway to the Light. She walked through this doorway beside spiritual guide Lei'ohu Ryder and her friend, Maydeen 'Iao, and touched the world of the spirits. The book is meant for the eyes of those who have already sought and found, for those who still seek, and for those who do not yet know that they do. Its purpose is to show that each of us has a Kukuipuka within.

The Author: Joyce Hau'oli Carter
Born and lived most of my life in the state of Massachusetts, Joyce learned of the Aloha Spirit and has had ties to Hawaii since she was a child. She is a music educator and worked as a literacy coordinator in the areas of English as a Second Language and Citizenship.
Joyce spends leisure time writing, painting, teaching music, and giving talks about the Hawaiian Islands.
