The 9th Island of Las Vegas - The Na Hoku Hanohano 2006 & 2009 Female vocalist of the year Natalie Ai Kamauu
In a recent trip to Las Vegas Natalie Ai Kamauu visited with the crew of the Little Grass Shack, Las Vegas' first and only Hawaiian Island music radio show on the FM dial. The Little Grass Shack can be heard Saturday mornings on KUNV 91.5 FM or streaming worldwide at "thelittlegrassshack.net".
While being introduced, Natalie breaks the ice telling all that she prefers to be called "Nat". So down to earth, so tita... whichever way you see it, that's why we love her - she's herself, so true, so real!
Nat's beautiful and astounding voice is accompanied by husband Iolani and brother Chad. A hula dancer from young, Nat danced for her parents halau named halau hula olana and was crowned Miss Aloha Hula 1990. Her singing career came later and sudden. As an accomplished hula dancer, Nat's parents Howard & Olana Ai gave her an ukulele on a Monday and said, "...we have a show on Friday."
Nat's debut CD is entitled "E" which means strange or weird because to her it was such a weird feeling to perform solo and not be dancing hula. Her second CD is named "I" which means best, supreme or greatest. Nat gave all she had, doing the best she could which is how she come up with the name of her sophomore solo project.
Before her solo Hawaiian singing career got started Nat and husband Iolani were part of a techno-pop group called "Sunland" in the mid 90s. In fun, the crew from the Little Grass Shack thought it would be fun to remind Nat of her multi-talented past.
After her trip to Las Vegas, Nat plans on returning home to Hawaii and getting back into the studio to work on a Christmas CD.

I later got to see the 3 of them perform LIVE at the LVHCC celebration. The entire audience was captivated and amazed by the talents of this ohana.
Mahalo Nat, Iolani, and Chad for sharing your time, talents and mana'o with Las Vegas. We hope to have you back soon on the 9th Hawaiian Island. God bless you all and please stay in touch with us. A hui hou.
