I think it's great that you put video clips of the performances up on your site. Maybe next time you can add a clip of the little ones so they can get a little air time too. Just a suggestion...mahalo nui!

To who commented above- If you are such a person who would take the time to make such an awful comment, when the spirit of dancing is not who is better than who, but instead supposed to be to share the family spirit of our culture. You should be ashamed of yourself, and I am sad that you consider yourself a part of "US". That word is not of your group or our group..It is "all of us together", as one OHANA sharing the art of dance.

NOTE FROM DA WEBMASTAH:
AS WEBMASTER OF ALOHAVALLEY.COM I HAVE DECIDED TO LEAVE THIS COMMENT FOR ALL TO VIEW. AT THE SAME TIME I EXERCISE PUBLIC FREEDOM OF SPEECH, THE ABOVE COMMENT ENTITLED "YOU SUCK" FROM "YOUR MOMMA" DEMONSTRATES A LACK OF THE ALOHA SPIRIT AND IS VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO ALL KUMUS DANCE INTRUCTORS, AND EVERY DANCER NO MATTER WHAT GROUP THEY REPRESENT.

AS AN ACTIVE MEMBER WITHIN OUR LAS VEGAS ISLAND COMMUNITY I AM DEEPLY DISTURBED BY THE HATRED AND JEALOUSY DISPLAYED. NOT ONLY DOES IT AFFECT THE FEATURED DANCE GROUP, IT AFFECTS ALL WITHIN OUR ISLANDER COMMUNITY AS WELL AS THE VIEWERS OF ALOHAVALLEY.COM.

I PERSONALLY KNOW MOST OF THE KUMUS & INSTRUCTORS OF THE HULA HALAUS AND TAHITIAN DANCE GROUPS HERE IN LAS VEGAS AND BELIEVE THEY WOULD NOT TOLERATE THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR. AS A PARENT, I WOULD NOT APPROVE OF SUCH NEGATIVITY.

I SUPPORT THE COMMENT MADE BY "AUNTY NICOLE" ABOUT BEING ONE OHANA. ESPECIALLY HERE IN LAS VEGAS WHERE WE ARE CONSIDERED A MINORITY. ALTHOUGH, I AM STOPPING THIS RIGHT NOW!

FROM THIS POINT FORWARD, AS DA WEBMASTAH I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY COMMENTS WHICH PROVE TO CONTAIN EITHER PHYSICAL OR VERBAL THREATS, INSULT, ABUSE, OR ATTACKS AS DESCRIBED IN OUR TERMS OF USE. I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY ADDED ATTACKS OR REBUTTALS.

IF YOU WANT FREEDOM OF SPEECH THAN HERE IT IS... I RUN THIS WEBSITE AND WHAT I SAY GOES!

Aloha Francis, just thought to stop by and show my Aloha. I think that 9th Island did a great job. I love to see the little Keiki's get out there and have a great time. I dance and teach for the pure joy of the art of dance not to insult or compete against other groups. I do not tolerate that type of behavior in our own group. Like my mom taught me, Kill em with Kindness. Dance for the love, if not it shows in your performance. Aloha, Lindelle and Ohana

My ALOHA to ALL!!

First of all... to my 9th Island Ohana, YOUR PERFORMANCE WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I know that I haven't been consistent with being able to practice & perform with the group because of my conflicting schedule(s), but never doubt that you all have my support. You are all wonderful!!

Remember that to live Aloha- in its true definition- is to RESPECT infinitely. It is to sharing abundantly, staying humble, never judging because there is only one being- whoever that may be for anyone- who can do that in the purest of ways, being that contagious smile. Most of all, to live Aloha is to LOVE endlessly and with integrity- doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

ALohA for your time everyone!

Your troop is so much fun to watch, you are one big family and it shows how you all work together and project such positive energy. When many treat Tahitian Dance as a sport, you manage to keep it fun and work your magic in the hearts of all who see you performe. No wonder why the Ninth Island performance is often the one people remember long after they see the event.

I missed the whole festival but just wanted to express my thoughts on that comment from "Your Momma." I'm a local girl from Oahu who is part Tahitian & I think it's beautiful when people of another race want to embrace our polynesian culture. And it doesn't matter how "good" you are, just as long as the common bond of love & respect is shared amongst all! It's beautiful to see one's interpretation of song & dance! I give props to the Kumu Hula & his Haumana. Mwah, Local Girl 96792

I was at the affair at Henderson and enjoyed the different songs and seeing new faces. It's nice to see younger dancers who will carry the torch for us. Hoolauleas are not about competition but in sharing the art of music and dancing and getting the new island community together. Remember what aloha means. Mahalo!
