Local boy at heart
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama still keeps the Aloha Spirit in his heart. Obama grew up in Hawaii, attended public school on Oahu,graduated from Punahou High School in Honolulu, then graduated from Harvard University before his political career and becoming US Senator for Illinois.
Maya Soetoro-Ng, half sister to Obama says Barack, his wife and children go back to Hawaii often to enjoy the local lifestyle. They love eating plate lunches, sushi, and shaved ice. Soetoro-Ng lives in Hawaii and teaches at La Pietra - Hawaii School for Girls in Honolulu and at the University of Hawaii.
"I want to emphasize my brother loves these islands. He loves these islands with every fiber of his being," says Soetoro-Ng.
Obama gives Hawaii credit for being who he is. Much of his abilities and skills come from growing up in in the islands.
