Two nations hit by earthquakes
A 6.6 magnitude earthquake shook parts of Indonesia at exactly 9:00 a.m. the morning of September 10, 2008. The epicenter was located approximately 75 miles offshore near eastern Indonesia. A tsunami warning was issued by The Indonesia Meteorological and Geophysical Department.
A short 21 minutes later Japan was rocked with a 6.9 magnitude quake at 9:21 a.m. The Japan quake's epicenter was 80 miles offshore south-southwest of Kushiro on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. Japan's Meteorological Agency also prompted a tsunami warning.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in 'Ewa Beach, Oahu, Hawaii released that there was no tsunami threat for the State of Hawaii.
